About Apple Tree Montessori

A long time ago (well - about 30 years actually) a little girl was not really getting on well with her school. She didn't complain. But she was obviously bored and was becoming at best unenthusiatic to go - at worst down right reluctant.

Her Mum and Dad were worried about his. Then her Mum noticed a new school opening nearby - using some principles called Montessori. Neither Mum nor Dad had heard of Montessori, but they went along to look at the school, and liked what they saw and liked the head teacher.

So, cautiously, the little girl went for a trial day at the school - and she never left. It transformed her school experienece. I was that Dad. The school brought our happy child back to us - full of curiosity and a love of learning.

That little girl was Alexandra "Alex" Openshaw. She went on to study Archaeology, Anthropology, Primate Cognition - and then studied Montessori Teaching in London and at the Montessori Centre in Bergamo, Italy.
